Two dispensary applicants and four wholesale applicants in each of Missouri’s eight districts were granted a new microbusiness license.ĭHSS received 194 applications for a new dispensary in District 5, nearly 30 more than any other congressional district. The Department of Health and Senior Services, whose Division of Cannabis Regulation oversees the rollout of legalized recreational marijuana in Missouri, announced the 48 winners of the license lottery Monday ahead of Wednesday’s constitutionally mandated deadline. Missouri’s 5th congressional district, which includes Kansas City, received more applications for a microbusiness dispensary license than any of the other seven districts in the state. Each card holder of a Missouri personal cultivation license will only be allowed to possess: “six flowering plants, six non-flowering plants over 14 inches tall, and 6 non-flowering plants under 14 inches tall.”Īnother important rule is that the cannabis that is grown must only be used by the person whose name is on the license. But you need to be careful because there are specific rules.įirst, the plants must be grown in a place that cannot be seen by the public. The license will cost $100 and will provide card holders the right to grow a certain number of marijuana plants at home.Īs it is now, Missouri personal cultivation card holders would be allowed to grow no more than 18 plants. In February of 2023, Missouri residents 21 years of age or older will be able to submit an application to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to obtain a personal cultivation license. Recreational customers can expect to be able to start purchasing cannabis at a dispensary as soon as February 2023 – depending on how long it takes the Department of Health and Senior Services to transition the licenses. That’s when the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services will begin to transition the licenses of medical marijuana dispensaries into recreational licenses. The amendment officially goes into effect December 8, 2022. Missouri residents, 21 years of age or older, will soon be able to visit a dispensary and purchase cannabis flower and products.
